Each year there are opportunities to expand your Jewish horizons and connections by participation in Adult education. The topics for Adult education vary from year to year and rabbi to rabbi. These opportunities can be anywhere from Torah study to Adult Hebrew and everything in between.

Offerings in 2021-2022 may include:

Adult Chai Mitzvah: Monthly October to June.

This program will take a look at different aspects of Judaism through an adult lens, and including such topics as Wisdom, Compassion, Trust, Generosity, and so on. The rabbi topic will announce the topic during the first week of the month and discussion will be at a later date during that month.

Hebrew 101: The Basics of Hebrew for Adults

Sundays. Beginning January 2021. New sessions may be added periodically.

Never learned Hebrew? Is your Hebrew a bit rusty? New to Judaism? Well,   this is the course for you! In this program we will learn the alef-bet and——begin to read some basic Hebrew words. You will learn some basic vocabulary and roots of words that will help you as you advance to Hebrew 102 and beyond.

Hebrew 102: A Study of Hebrew Prayer

Ongoing.

This program will take the adult learner through the Siddur, concentrating on effectively reading the prayers and garnering an understanding of the content of the prayers by translation of the prayer. Knowledge of Hebrew and the ability to read basic words are required.

Hebrew 103: Advanced Biblical Hebrew

This program will take the knowledge you gained in the first two courses and advance your ability to read and understand Hebrew. We will look at some basic texts texts, including Torah, and use a Biblical Hebrew workbook. The ability to read Hebrew is required for this class.

Swimming in the Sea of Talmud

This is a book written by two friends that began as a “chavruta” study session and became this look at the Talmud. An example of study text: “One who causes others to do is greater than one who does.” Along with this text is text from the Talmud, a contextual description and midrash about the passage. Saturday morning Torah Study

This will begin after Simchat Torah in 2021. Watch for announcements and check the calendar.

A Taste of Judaism

An introductory course on Judaism for those interested in learning more about Judaism and for those who are considering conversion to Judaism. Watch for announcements and check the calendar.
